You survived the pandemic so anything goes! Right?!? You have reached the age where you no longer have to explain anything to anyone. So why not indulge in a Margarita on a Monday or Any Day!
Margaritas Connect Generations
Where I live, in sunny South Florida, Margaritas can be found in most places where people gather. They now come in different sizes and flavors, from the ordinary to the least expected combinations. A popular multi generational cocktail it connects the generations in my family. It’s the favorite cocktail for both my daughter and my parents. They each love to indulge in a Margarita or two especially at family gatherings at restaurants. Usually enjoyed with a heaping bowl of tortilla chips, salsa and guacamole with a side of laughter. Margaritas scream fun and good times!
How did the Margarita come to be
While no one is exactly sure of the origins of the Margarita it is believed that it was invented by Francisco “Pancho” Morales on July 4, 1942, at a bar in Juárez, Mexico, named Tommy’s Place. A female customer requested a Magnolia – brandy, Cointreau, and an egg yolk, topped with Champagne. Instead Morales substituted the ingredients with the modern day tequila and triple sec resulting in today’s Margarita.
What’s in a Margarita
A Margarita is made by combining tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur, served over ice in a salted rim wide mouthed glass. A perfect combination of sweet and savory rounds out the palette. The Margarita is so popular that now you can find it in many varieties of flavors from passion fruit to strawberry to my favorite spicy jalapeño.
In the upcoming weeks I will be sharing with you different recipes on the variations of the Margarita. For now here is a recipe for the Classic Margarita. Would love to know in the comments what your favorite Margarita variety is.
The Classic Margarita recipe

1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 ½ fluid ounces tequila
1 fluid ounce triple sec (such as Cointreau®)
